La Conferencia del Estaca - AKA Stake Conference

Last night and today we had stake conference for the Caguas Stake. We were honored to have Elder Tomas Roman of the Seventy with us. He had attended our ward a few months back and had told Kyle and I that we were here in Puerto Rico for a great reason. So It was pretty amazing to have him with us for the conference. Kyle and I were also in the choir which made it special to be right up with "saved" seats. That is the Best! I found myself singing in my sleep, "Para siempre Dios este con voz" otherwise known as "God be with us 'til we meet again" and it was my favorite.

We were feed Spiritually by President and Sister Smart, of the San Juan Puerto Rico Mission along with President Morales, President Hernandez, and Elder Ramon. The overall theme of the conference was Christ and His atonement. It was powerful. The brethren gave several quotes from different prophets reminding us that there are MANY important parts of the gospel but the MOST essential is the Atonement of Jesus Christ. They talked of the urgent need to spread the word - like wild fire - to tell every one about Jesus Christ. It is time to "abre the boca"  or open our mouth and tell each and EVERY person who will listen. Sometimes I ponder our pre-existence and think about how blessed I am to have so many wonderful conveniences in my lifetime. I wonder sometimes what I did to be able to secure "this spot". I imagine that we told Christ that we would SPEAK up for HIM and that we would help further the work. Not tomorrow, but today. I know that I left the conference on "fire" so to speak and ready to continue to spead the word about Jesus Christ. We had another baptism last Sunday. It was Kevin, baptized by his best friend, Auturo. They are only teens, but Auturo has "caught the fire" and he was so proud to say that he found someone at his school who would listen and "Come and See".

The missionaries stop to pose with Kevin.
We are so blessed to be serving here right now and we realize that our time is coming to a close.  The Lord has given us a short time to really FOCUS on missionary work everyday. I don't want to have any regrets when I go back to "everyday living"  but I can honestly say that I am a changed person. I will follow the Spirit to speak up and "abra mi boca" because I know I promised my Savior I would.

I hope you do the same!
