Beach Baptism - a dream come true for us
Last weekend, we had a beautiful, magical baptism at the beach. The Burgos family, who are stalwarts in the Humacao Ward supported Kaisy Castro in her baptism at our private beach here in Naguabo on March 7th, 2020 Saturday. We were blessed to be asked to be involved in this very special evening. It had been cold and even a little rainy earlier in the day, but come evening, we had been praying that the waves would calm. They did and we were blessed with a perfect environment for this baptism. Everyone who came was touched. I was asked to bake my special brownies and afterward we gathered at the pool gazebo for "refrescos". It was especially wonderful to be able to have Ashley, Clayton, and Lucy with us. We put together a quintet with the sister missionaries and they sang, "Brightly Beams Our Fathers Mercy" and it was perfect. I accompanied them on the uke.
It was also fitting lyrics for the beach baptism...
Brightly beams our Father’s Mercy
Brightly beams our Father’s mercy
From his lighthouse evermore,
But to us he gives the keeping
Of the lights along the shore.
(Chorus)
Let the lower lights be burning;
Send a gleam across the wave.
Some poor fainting, struggling seaman
You may rescue, you may save.
2. Dark the night of sin has settled;
Loud the angry billows roar.
Eager eyes are watching, longing,
For the lights along the shore.
3. Trim your feeble lamp, my brother;
Some poor sailor, tempest-tossed,
Trying now to make the harbor,
In the darkness may be lost.
From Sister Elizabeth Ricks:
The most important thing we can share is the gospel of Jesus Christ. The Lord called Oliver Cowdery and David Whitmer to preach the gospel. He explained the happiness they would receive:
“And if it so be that you should labor all your days in crying repentance unto this people, and bring, save it be one soul unto me, how great shall be your joy with him in the kingdom of my Father!
“And now, if your joy will be great with one soul that you have brought unto me into the kingdom of my Father, how great will be your joy if you should bring many souls unto me!” (D&C 18:15–16).
We show our faith in Jesus Christ when we share the gospel with others. And what great joy we receive when we help others know of Jesus Christ and of our Heavenly Father’s plan.
AND we can testify...
Joy, yes. Great Joy!
